Message from the CEO
|
|
As we close the door on the financial year, I wanted to reach out and thank you for the work you have performed with Rubik over your time with the organisation. Since
Rubik was founded in 2015 its been the people that make up the organisation that make it the organisation that it is today. The work that you perform is important for
both our clients and to the Rubik team, we appreciate your effort though a period of change, both domestically and organisationally.
As you would have noticed Rubik has gone through a period of transition with the departure of some of the leadership team who have moved on from Rubik for other
adventures, we have opened offices in Melbourne and Western Australia to support our team and clients more effectively, and we are set to launch the
Rubik group, that will lead Rubik through to its 10th year of operation in 2024.
I am extremely proud of what Rubik has achieved in the past seven years and I am very excited about our plans for the future. Part of this plan is to really step up the engagement from the organisation to support you and make sure you are getting the best opportunities, the most enjoyable work and professional development.
Best Wishes,
|

Sangharsa Sharma, Accounts Officer
|
|
To introduce myself, I am Sangharsa Sharma originally from Nepal. I studied my bachelor’s degree (BBA) from Pokhara University, Nepal and completed my master’s degree in accounting (MPA) from King's Own Institute (KOI) from Sydney, Australia. I am currently working as an Accounts and Admin support officer at Rubik3, Canberra. I planned and reached a decision for making a career choice in accounting because of my goal to become a Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA). Besides making efforts to achieve my goal as a successful accountant I cherish exploring new places, reading books and following sports.

My upbringing in the central part of small and beautiful country Nepal is directly connected to who I am in many fundamental ways. During my study in Nepal, I got to acquire knowledge about modern business and accounting practices that motivated and made me curious to study accounting in depth choosing master’s in professional accounting for my career progression.
Choosing Australia as a destination of my career to broaden accounting knowledge and skills was the turning point of my life. The reputation of Australia for a quality education system and high standard of living fascinated me like most international students. As Australia is well known as a land of opportunity, it made me realise that with these opportunities come challenges that I need to overcome. As an international student, cultural differences were complex to cope up with during my
initial days. Balancing the personal and work life was something that I struggled hard with. Certainly, studying in Australia is exciting and productive but being an overseas student differences in the education system wasn't an easy thing to adopt for me. Furthermore, language difficulties, financial hardship, unmet expectations, employment, and psychological distress were the other challenges experienced by me during the early days of my stay in Australia.
My perception of Australia was altered after getting to know more about Australian lifestyle and culture. Friendliness of the people and their welcoming nature supported me to embrace Australian culture quickly. The Cultural diversity in Australia offered me the chance to step outside of my usual comfort zone and experience something new and different. On a personal level, I learned to make independent decisions and manage work life balance and be able to distinguish my capabilities and
talents which has been possible through the experience in Australia.
As an overseas student studying in Australia, I couldn’t disregard the differentiations. One of the key dissimilarities that I analysed is that our education system is implanted in respect for learning but is more rigid and structured. Instead of this, study in Australia is focused on discovering new knowledge, and exploring various forms of learning.
My professional journey started working as an office assistant in one of the small financial institutions in Nepal. It helped to understand the framework of small financial institutions. My real professional journey began after the completion of my master’s degree, as finally I got a chance to work as an accountant in Australia. This was a valuable experience filled with excitement and enthusiasm for me. I worked as an accounts payable officer in one of the online auto parts stores in Australia. The work experience in the company supported me to understand Australian work culture and accounting practices to a certain level.

Team Spotlight
|
|
The remarkable professional experience that happened to me is after moving to Queanbeyan from Sydney as I got an opportunity to work as an Accounts and Admin officer in Rubik3.As Rubik3 being such a well-respected company well known for providing the strategic business solution while staying connected to the Australian community, to be a part of it was an exciting opportunity for me. Working in Rubik3 gave me a perfect platform to expand my accounting experience as well as to enhance my
administrative skills I personally believe Rubik3 as an ideal workplace as I experienced support, encouragement and respect from co-worker’s despite of the cultural differences. Working with a team of friendly and always willing to help nature added my interest and enthusiasm towards work to a greater extent. Moreover, A positive work culture in Rubik3 made me feel accepted, valued, and a sense of belonging in no time that I consider to be the specialty of Rubik compared to my past workplace
experiences. On top of that, acceptance of cultural diversity empowered me to develop my talents and skills. Thus, as an employee belonging to a different cultural background, I do have different ways of thinking and can thus analyse a matter at hand from a different perspective that I believe to add valueto Rubik3.
Conclusion:
As an international student, I faced a series of transitional difficulties in Australia. On the other hand, these challenges also motivated me to develop strategies to solve problems. Through my knowledge and experiences in Australia, I believe myself to be getting closer to my goal taking the personal and professional balance into consideration. The learnings through the personal experiences, and support and encouragement from the workplaces that I ascertained made me accept the fact that
undoubtedly Australia is a land of tremendous opportunities to learn and grow.
